Prayer to Rejoice in Suffering with Endurance, Character and Hope

Today I am using Romans 5:3-5 as my prayer focus.

Romans 5:3-5

[3] Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, [4] and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, [5] and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

Father God,

Thank you so much for giving us Your Holy Spirit to indwell us and to enable us to rejoice in our sufferings because of what they will produce in us. We recognize joy is a fruit of Your Spirit and we ask that our fruits of the Spirit will continually grow and be evident to others regardless of how we feel. We need Your Spirit to grow and fill us with Your endurance, with character and with hope. Your hope sustains us in the difficult moments, days and weeks. Help us to recognize Your fingerprints are all over our lives even on days we are at our weakest or sickest.
Lord, we also ask for strength and health. That whether our bodies are healed in this life or in eternity, that we can thrive not merely survive. Father, You alone are our hope and the one true source of all we ever need. Thank You for supplying all that we need and giving to us what is for our eternal good and for Your glory even though we may not fully understand. Enable us to fully trust You and Your purposes in our lives.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen.
